The adventures begin!
This is the story of Pakura and friends. It explains how the three characters become involved in the three Adventures: The Big Picture, Waterways and Wetlands and Water Use.

Pakura. A neurotic busy body? Some say in the wetlands that Pakura is a neurotic busy body, up at dawn she stands on a clump of dried flax scanning the horizon, with tail feathers twitching.
Pakura and Rere the damsel fly "Don't you ever sleep Pakura? Must you always be up at sunrise glaring at the sun?" comments her best friend Rere, the damsel fly. "The sun is my inspiration, my vision." replied Pakaura
Pakura has a vision! Pakura believes in "Vision" - it is her special word but some tire of hearing it, especially those ignoring the urban spread. "You are making people cross Pakura - they feel you are self-centred, a show off."
Pakura in her environment "Show off, what do you mean Rere? You haven't been almost run over by a car looking for somewhere to eat. Rere understands from her position above the wetlands, she can see their precious habitat decreasing.
Pakura stands her ground She knows it's true, most of their friends only look at the small patch in front of them, they don't see the big picture, and when threatened, run away, only Pakura stands her ground protecting what is precious. Many times she has heard her small friend call - "run, run you frightened birds"
Pakura, Rere and Tuna discuss their affairs "We need to build a strategy Rere, so let's start planning. Rere you are in charge of The Big Picture. Tuna, she's a smart eel, she can look after the Waterways and Wetlands, and we (Rere and Pakura) can look at Water Use in the home."
